Summer Leader Retreat

On Friday, August 14, our in-town leaders gathered for a little retreat. The retreat began with burgers and brats at the Sytsma’s. During dinner, the leaders made a list of what they needed from the local Committee and the Staff to be successful this year. Here’s the list:

  • Female leaders for Clay and Schmucker
  • Male / Female Bible Study
  • Prayer
  • Money
  • Boosters
  • Transportation Help
  • Verbal Encouragement
  • Better Communication with Leaders & Connections
  • Dinners & Homes for Gatherings
  • Food
  • Space to Have Club

Around 8:00 PM that night we shared our list with Mike Bernard, our Committee Chair. This was an exciting time to share the realities in our ministry and to do this together.

After a great meeting, we gathered around the fire pit and shared answers to questions like: What is your family like? How did you meet Jesus? What is your biggest regret? What is a time you would like to re-live? Which deadly sin do you most identify with? What is your life verse?

On Saturday, we woke to breakfast provided by the Ellison’s: baked oatmeal, egg casserole, and coffee. We spent some time talking about Camp, Calendars, and the importance of being involved in the local church.

The afternoon was spent at the beach — Warren Dunes in Michigan, and our time concluded back at the Sytsma’s with a meal provided by the Bernard’s, a few rounds of the family game, and some more laughs.

The Lord is building a great ministry team in Michiana. Pray that we would bear fruit that will last!
