Every year our leaders gather in January at Jan and Larry Gate’s home on Diamond Lake to plan the second semester and remember what God has called us to. January 2015 was no exception!
January 23rd, most of our leaders arrived at the Gate’s home by 9:00 PM. We spent the night singing, laughing, praying, and playing games like Avalon and cards. The tone was set on Friday night as Brad shared the account in Matthew 16:13-18 where Jesus casts the vision to his disciples of his church and asks the question, “Who do you say that I am?”
Caryn set the tone on Friday morning with the account of Philip’s encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts 8. Caryn reminded us that the makeup of our schools in Michiana is diverse and we need to be prepared to love all kinds of kids.
Needless to say the weekend was about vision. We shared vision, prayed for vision, and encouraged each other. The team God has provided to reach kids through Young Life in Michiana is a great foundation for where we are heading long term. It is a solid crew of committed and faithful people who genuinely love kids and want to share the transforming love of Christ with them.
