In the midst of strategic plans, John Maxwell’s leadership books, and an intense push for more numbers, it’s easy for us (in ministry) to forget a sobering truth:
“Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders labor in vain.” (Psalm 127:1)
In the midst of all our doing for God, why do we struggle to trust him with the challenges before us?
If we are going to have a healthy growing Young Life ministry, we have to continually place it in God’s hands. We have to be in tune with what HE wants to do.
Some Simple Suggestions (time commitment):
- Pray at the school with your team (15 minutes)
- Make a list of people who care about you and your ministry and send them a weekly email with prayer requests. (10 minutes)
- Want kids to go to camp? How about making a list with your team of the kids you want to go and asking someone to pray for them? (15 minutes)
- Find out who prays in your church. Ask them if they would pray for you and your team. (10 minutes)
“Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of god’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.” (Philippians 4:6-8, The Message)
